HEMISPHERE
DESIGN: MARC ALESSANDRI

Among the design basics of legs, tables with central shafts are an optimum solution in terms of ergonomics: no discomfort for the legs around the top. This concern has prevailed for the designing of the Hemisphere collection. Another feature of this item: the typical "airplane wing". Again it is an "ideal" solution as access is softened below and above. Also ideal regarding surface treatment: epoxy or lacquered, since it avoids the hard edge effect.

Rectangle from the Golden Number (* 1618 ... so that for 120 in depth you get 194 in width.):

The "Divine Proportion" according to Leonardo da Vinci, "Mean ratio and extreme ratio" according to Plato, the golden number remains a fascination for lovers of harmony and its developments "in nature and in art", as Matila GHIKA analyzed it in our time. Le CORBUSIER refers to it with his Modulor, while Paul VALERY in the "Song of the columns" describes them as "girls of golden numbers with strong laws of heaven".

There is something religious in the minds of those who strive to make everyday objects joyful to behold. And since it's all about sight, let's make a reference to the subtle harmony in the simple calculation of the dimensions of a table top.
